12 month opportunity - Manager, Arts & Events

An exciting and unique opportunity currently exists at Latrobe City Council for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic applicant to apply for a temporary 12 month role as Manager Arts and Events.

The role involves management and oversight of Council’s well established; performing arts program and venues, the Latrobe Regional Gallery, a busy major and community events team and visitor information services.

But there is so much more to initiate and work on in this space, with a number of important key projects and strategic initiatives to be rolled out over coming months. The most prominent and of interest to the community being:

  • Operational work in relation to the new Latrobe Creative Precinct (LCP) ; including software and systems procurement, sponsorship and fundraising, community and user engagement, negotiation of arrangements with educational partners and catering and hospitality arrangements;
  • Liaison with Creative Victoria regarding an LCP-related consultancy into audience development and Precinct activation; and with Gippsland FM regarding a proposal to relocate to the LCP site;
  • Finalise arrangements for the establishment and operations of the new Tourism and Major Events Advisory Committee;
  • Planning for future major exhibitions at Latrobe Regional Gallery;
  • Implementation of the newly-adopted Events and Tourism Strategy and Events Selection Framework; and
  • Actions flowing from the Latrobe City Arts Strategy and Action Plan 2016-2021.
